Quilled Door Festoon

Hi all, wish you all a very happy new year. Wish all your dreams comes true this year. Okay let us come to the point, here I am to share with you all my very first creation in 2016. I have made this as a project for DT call 2016 in Indian Quilling Challenge. First let me share that how I got this idea of making door festoon. Actually I am a very mad follower of Tarazri it's a terracotta jewellery page owned by Mithuna Maran. She posted her terracotta door festoon in her page and that inspired me a lot which made me to create a door festoon in paper quilling. And off course it came out well and successfully hanged in my brothers room door. Thank you Mithuna.

I have used 3mm red and yellow quilling strips. Made the square using the red strips and filled it with  honey comb technique using yellow strip. Between the squares I have used paper bead of gold color. I have used regular A4 sheet paper for making the paper bead. I have cut triangle in A4 sheet rolled it to make it as bead then colored it with gold color.

And here you go, hope you all like it. Thank you all.

Paper Quilled Nethichutti

Hi All,

A very happy weekend to all of you. I am here to share a couple of things with you all today. First thing is a big thanks to 'Indian Quilling Challenge' team for selecting me as the third topper in august  challenge for my quilled photo frame and I am very happy to receive your badge. Actually it happened to be my birthday gift since the results were announced on the day next to my birthday. And now my target would be becoming a winner of the contest. Yes! I will keep trying for achieving it and I am sure that I ll achieve it one day.

Okay, second thing which I would like to share here is, can you guess it???
Let me crack it. Yeah!! September challenge which was announced in 'Indian Quilling Challenge'.
This month topic is white on white and I felt confused on the topic and after seeing the beautiful DT posts I was clear about the topic. But still I didn't get a clear idea to start my project and atlast this morning I decided to do some paper quilled jewellery in white color strip and decorate it with white beads and stones but what jewellery I ll do??? Jimiki nice idea but it's usual. Okay then what about studs or dangles with neck set? Gud but anything different from that... Hmmm okay different? Different?...  And finally got an idea to do a nethichutti using white color paper quilling strip and decorate it with white beads and stones.

Final output of my project is peacock nethichutti.

Things used are,
1. 2mm white color paper quilling strips
2. White seed beads
3. Pearl bead
4. Glue

And here is my new try beautiful nethichutti,

Handmade Photo Frame with Quilled Flowers

Hello friends,

Hope you all enjoyed your weekend. Here I'm to tell you how I made a beautiful photo frame and what made me to do this. Well, first of all I would like to thank two teams, 'Indian Quilling Challenge' and 'Create Something Catchy'. They have given a very good opportunity for me to boost up and show out my talents in arts and craft. I was bit sad that I couldn't participate in August first week challenge of create something catchy but I'm happy that my photo frame project is applicable for both Indian quilling challenge and Create something catchy.

Yeah! I made this photo frame as a project to submit in both the contest. Okay, let me tell you how did I get this idea to make this photo frame. Well, when I heard of the theme create or decorate a photo frame using paper quilling. I was confused whether to just decorate a glass frame which I already have at home or create a new one. But the thing is I haven't created a photo frame or decorated a frame before. So I decided to get idea from google the boss I just search 'paper quilling photo frame' and just had a look at all the results in the images. Was looking into the models for two days but I'm not that much impressed about samples which I saw in the search. Then at last came the weekend and decided to create and decorate the frame with paper quilling peacock since the contest was dedicated to one of our nation leader. So I want to use our national bird to honor our national leader.

But there came the twist after seeing the August 2nd week challenge from Create Something Catchy team. And the topic was to make flowers. So I made up my mind to decorate the frame with beautiful and colorful flowers. After deciding to create a frame I jus had a rough idea like I make some base using cardboard box then some flower or heart shape frame on it then decorate it with quilling flower. Then I started to search all over my room to get a cardboard box and I wanted it to be not too small and not too big. Later I ended up choosing some old sunscreen lotion box. Then I started to cover it with white chart paper and let it aside to dry. Then now again another confusion. Yeah! Whether to make a frame in flower shape or heart shape. Okay. Already I'm gonna decorate using flower so will make frame in heart shape. Searched and found a wedding card and cut it in the shape of heart.

Now all the basic thing for the frame is done. Made small rose flower using white color 5mm paper quilling strip and pasted it in the corner of the heart. Later I wanted to give some different impression to the frame base. So I pasted bits of tissue paper all over the cardboard box then let it dry. After the rose flowers are well set on the heart, started to color it using acrylic color and let it dry. When the cardboard dried started coloring it with my very old lipstick. Yeah made a small bag using old cloth, applied the lipstick over the bag and just pressed and dragged over the cardboard box and it came out well. Then started making paper quilling flowers in three colors blue, yellow and pink. Each flower gas 6 petals and petals of yellow and blue flower is made of 1 full 2mm paper strip and pink petal made of half 2mm paper strip. After done with all the flowers, photo frame and base. Started to stick it using white glue. Felt the base was plain so just wrote 'Smile' using green color 2mm paper strip. Then when everything got dried, applied varnish over it. And here is the outcome and hope you all liked it.

Hi friends,

Quite after a very long time I got a chance to blog. Yeah let me first tell you all about how my paper quilling interested get started. Like others I too have some thing which always says that what we do other than our daily routine work and do I use my quality time for something creative and useful. But no answer.  But if I just go back and see, I was quite interested in art and cart during school days and have participated in some contest and won few prize within my school. But after that there was no chance to develop it further. Then later 3 years back I got very much inspired by a person and her talents in craft is out of the world.

Thank god that she is my friends mom and so it was very easy for me. Heard from my friend that her mom is gonna conduct summer classes for school kids. Then I asked my friend that whether her mom can teach me and her mom also agreed for that. And I was very much happy and excited about this. But that package does not include paper quilling. Yeah it doesn't include paper quilling and I didn't even know about this technique. Yes zero knowledge in it, i didn't even know the name of this technique. Can you all guess then how did I learn it??

Okay, let me tell you. Okay now we see what does the package includes. It includes jeweller making (not paper quilling jewellery), OHP art and bead work. So then how do I know about paper quilling. Yeah yeah I'm coming to the point. While teaching Jewellery making she said me that now many are doing jewellery using paper quilling technique. But I get the word paper but forgot the word quilling. Then the ever clever google helped me to know about the techniques and that's how my quilling journey started.

And now 2 days back I was searching on net for some paper quilling contest and came across
'Indian Quilling Challenge'  I was so happy and was very eager to participate. So created a pen stand and that picture which you guys see above. I have used all the shades of blue. Here I have used an art which shows a tree and different shades of sky. Base of this pen stand is card board roll. Quilling art has 3 trees in 3 different shades of blue and background as sky with 5 shades of blue.
